It is interesting and *ahem* pretty awesome that my first instinct upon reading German words is to try and understand it. And I generally understand short sentences, though not the long ones that my lecturer likes to post.
I do not completely ignore it, because I now have the vocab and grammar to at least try and understand these sentences. It is an awesome feeling, and I am not even faking it like I do with French.
Learning a language, though tough, can be rewarding:)
