Fiction and words
Sep. 23rd, 2010 03:16 amI love fiction, especially fantasy fiction, because in that moment, I can be anybody I want to be. I am not who I am, but who I can be. It makes me wants better things for myself, not to settle into this ordinary life, but instead to be someone extraordinary. It enables me to explore and to understand, opening my mind to so many things in the world.
There are time when I despair of ever reading a good piece of fiction again, and times when I am so overwhelmed by the amount of quality available.
Perhaps that is why I choose to never read a bad piece of fiction, because it is so jarring to me. It doesn't invite me in. Similarly, I don't read realistic fiction, for the same reason. I am not these people, stuck in these situations.
And we are back to love of words, because a good arrangement of words will never fail to draw me in.

Lyrics to love:
There's a place downtown,
Where the freaks all come around.
It's a hole in the wall.
It's a dirty free for all.
There's a place I know
If you're looking for a show.
Where they go hardcore
And there's glitter on the floor.

Baby loves to dance in the dark,
'Cuz when he's lookin' she falls apart.
Baby loves to dance in the dark.
-Dance in the Dark, Lady Gaga
I'm not perfect, but I keep trying
'Cause that's what I said I would do from the start
- Perfect, Hedley
At the foot of the stairs
With my fingers in your hair
