To Have A Home, Stutter, Not Alone
Nov. 29th, 2011 12:22 amTo Have A Home is one of those tunes (from AVPS) that has gained a new tone and meaning since Darren got on Glee. It is originally a song about Harry Potter finally finding his place. But when sung by Darren nowadays, it is instead a song about returning home. This was first demonstrated at Leaky Con this year.
( To Have A Home (Leaky Con) )
Dylan sings this song brilliantly, but once again, after listening to the Leaky Con version, the song is ruined for me, and I can only listen to Darren's version. This message of returning home is reinforced during the SPACE tour. And wow, it is so meta and so personal.
( To Have A Home (New York) )
They cut out It's Not Over to fit in Not Alone, when Darren joined them. I don't really know It's Not Over, so it was okay for me.
Let's talk about Stutter first. Stutter was an original song written by Darren, that got reworked into AVPS. It is fascinating to fans, because the original version has curses in it. (Oh and did I mention that in this video, Darren also plays the drums? HOT.)
( The Original Version )
I love the SPACE tour version though, because it is so different from the original that it is Joe Walker's. And the dance moves and the backing vocals are just awesome. Also, see Darren being happy singing the backing vocals.
( SPACE tour version )
Not Alone has developed into an anthem of sorts as well, among StarKid fans and even beyond. And like To Have A Home, it has become very personal, sort of like a message from the singer to the listeners. It is very close to my heart, and has helped gain a really good friend. Just, I am going to let the song speak for itself.
( Not Alone )
And I am not going to ramble on, because OMG, the song has released and it is PERFECT. AMAZING. I can't wait for the episode. This song is going on loop.
