To Have A Home is one of those tunes (from AVPS) that has gained a new tone and meaning since Darren got on Glee. It is originally a song about Harry Potter finally finding his place. But when sung by Darren nowadays, it is instead a song about returning home. This was first demonstrated at Leaky Con this year.

To Have A Home (Leaky Con) )

Dylan sings this song brilliantly, but once again, after listening to the Leaky Con version, the song is ruined for me, and I can only listen to Darren's version. This message of returning home is reinforced during the SPACE tour. And wow, it is so meta and so personal.

To Have A Home (New York) )

They cut out It's Not Over to fit in Not Alone, when Darren joined them. I don't really know It's Not Over, so it was okay for me.

Let's talk about Stutter first. Stutter was an original song written by Darren, that got reworked into AVPS. It is fascinating to fans, because the original version has curses in it. (Oh and did I mention that in this video, Darren also plays the drums? HOT.)

The Original Version )

I love the SPACE tour version though, because it is so different from the original that it is Joe Walker's. And the dance moves and the backing vocals are just awesome. Also, see Darren being happy singing the backing vocals.

Not Alone has developed into an anthem of sorts as well, among StarKid fans and even beyond. And like To Have A Home, it has become very personal, sort of like a message from the singer to the listeners. It is very close to my heart, and has helped gain a really good friend. Just, I am going to let the song speak for itself.

Not Alone )

And I am not going to ramble on, because OMG, the song has released and it is PERFECT. AMAZING. I can't wait for the episode. This song is going on loop.

Their towers fell when they were young, and everyone is still here.

Wow, what a brilliant contrast to those who grew up in the 1970s-80s, as compared to this generation of kids. Living under the nuclear threat really changed the lives of the older generation, whereas for kids in the 1990s and 2000s, the disaster has happened and we are all still here.

Interesting.

I... am really not prepared for my biz law finals tomorrow. But today has been a whirlwind of all my Darren Criss feelings, so you get more analysis. I am really not sure what to make of his earnest meta of his life. Seriously, it is like brain candy, but at the same time it keeps me ever so wary because I am like, shit, what if it's not real? But whatever, I admire his work ethic if he can juggle so many things at one go.

So back to the StarKid SPACE tour analysis. Get Back Up from Starship is one of my favourite songs because it showcases how utterly talented Lauren Lopez is. I love her in Starship because she plays two different characters and does it brilliantly. I completely buy her performance as Taz, who is hilariously awesome. Joe Walker is also brilliant in this. Darren sings backup for this when he is with them, but I won't even bother finding a version of that because it is awesome enough without him.

Get Back Up )

Following that is As Different As Can Be, which is a duet between Voldemort and Quirrell in AVPM. Once again, secondhand embarrassment prevented me from hearing this song.

The Way I Do, the following song, is my other favorite from Starship. I was just discovering StarKid then, and this rendition just blew me away. It was also the first time I saw Meredith perform, and the way she played her character was brilliant, as was Dylan Saunders' character. I really love them in this, and I listened to the version on YouTube many times.

Boy Toy is a terrible fun cheesy tune that was in Little White Lie (LWL), and it was sung by Lauren Lopez, who plays a popular girl who is the lead singer in a band. I love the cheesiness and the dance moves that Lauren and Meredith brings to the show, and of course, the boys in the background don't hurt. Here, have a video with Darren Criss hilarious dance in the background.

Time for me to get back to my studies, so that my paper can FINALLY be over tomorrow, and I can watch Glee after that. And hopefully that song will hit #1 on the charts.

I am looking at some of the biz law tutorial question now, and wow, they really don't have any respect for their work, do they? The questions are terribly set, with run on sentences and a lot of slang. It is not properly structured at all. Wow, just because this is a business school module does not mean that it shouldn't be as rigorous as a law module.

Seriously, I hope that the questions tomorrow aren't as terrible as this.
