The Hunger Games, Book 1
Nov. 16th, 2011 04:05 amSo, I just spent about 3-4 hours that I don't have (not literally, I just can't afford to cos I need sleep) reading the first book of The Hunger Games.
It was good. Like really decent and yes deserving of all the awards it has received. Note that I am not saying it about the entire series. But the first book is good, despite my undying hatred for everything in first person. Like dystopia is my weakest point. I adore well-written dystopic fiction that has a promise of a happy ending. Hunger Games meet that criteria, even though there are insipid moments, especially at the opening. Lots of info dump. But get to the Hunger Games, and the writing flows.
I look forward to the second book, but I hold no great hopes for it because second books are always full of flaws and I expect this to be no exception.
This is no Harry Potter, but it is not as bad as Twilight. The first book is definitely worth a read.
I leave you with this spoilery sentence:( spoiler. )
