Ugh, spent the past hour trying to find that piece of evidence that Locke doesn't view women as citizens, but it turns out that the sentence I am remembering is from Kant. UGH. Wasted so much time looking for one stupid sentence. Now I have to actually understand Kant, which means re-reading his words. I mean, either way, even as much as these two guys have done for liberty, sometimes I just want to slap them. The way they could ignore the issue of sexism, it is amazing.
It is just like yesterday, I spent time with a good friend of mine. Near the end of the day, he started using the word faggot. Throughout the entire day, he kept using the word fuck, and I don't give a shit. Swear all you want. But once he started using that slur, I was like DNW. Get out of my car. I hate all slurs with the fury of a thousand burning suns. This is exactly the principal that I am going to teach my kids. No slurs allowed in my home. Goddamn it, just because you are a male of a privileged race in Singapore, doesn't mean that you can just be so unaware of your privilege. You are privileged by both your race and your gender, be aware of it, otherwise you are just like any other ignorant asshole on the street. Yes, I understand you, but no, I don't like you.
Just, be aware of your privilege. Of your gender, of your race, of your class, of your ability - mental and physical.
I don't have the patience to educate the world, nor do I want to take on the responsibility. Furthermore, I AM NOT OBLIGATED TO. You'll just be deprived of my friendship. In that case, your loss.
