So, the new NBC TV series Smash is doing decently, getting 2.3 at Monday 10pm, which is considered good for NBC. Unfortunately, this means that Castle at 2.1 ratings is in danger. But Castle's writing has been terrible, so while I might be sad if it gets cancelled, I won't get too overtly upset.

Back to Smash. I have a love for Broadway and the creative process, so this interests me right from the beginning. The writing is good, but I am definitely in it for the dance and the music, as well as the process. There are certain character storylines that I can't be bothered with, but one or two, out of about five or six, are interesting enough. I have a love for their dance numbers, because the actors are talented. Glee gets away with awkward dance moves cos it is set at a high school, but the standard for dance on Smash is much higher.

So, if you have an interest in the Broadway industry (or the Hollywood depiction of it), and are interested in the multiple players behind a production, do give the series a try.

It definitely helps that the series offers a wide variety of females, actors of various races and a range of LGBT people. It is not entirely dominated by the straight white male. I'll be watching this show casually.
